Bail Month Fact #13 comes from a criminal justice system survey conducted at the 2012 eCourts Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference was attended by a wide range of criminal justice stakeholders including Clerks of Courts, Attorneys, Judges and Court Administrators. Each of these groups were asked about there perceptions around pretrial release mechanisms and their effectiveness. Much like previous surveys conducted with the National Sheriffs’ Association and the American Judges Association, the results of this survey showed that these important stakeholders viewed commercial bail as a real asset to the courts and when compared to public sector pretrial services a much more effective one.
