When any county across the country faces the issue of jail overcrowding the first instinct of those in the public sector pretrial release community is to fire up the war cry and point the finger at the commercial bail bond industry.  Unfortunately, this ill advised blame game could end up being a big mistake for many counties.  Why?  Because blaming the commercial bail industry for jail overcrowding immediately reduces the opportunity for the bail industry to have a seat at the table and to be part of the solution.  The reality is that when it comes to effectiveness and fiscal responsibility in the the criminal justice system, the commercial bail industry brings decades of experience and knowledge to the table.  Instead of pointing fingers, isnt it time that those key stakeholders and decision makers bring all parties to the table to look for the BEST solution for the communities that they serve?

Check out the recent article written by AIA’s Vice President of Corporate Communications and Managing Director of the ExpertBail Network, Eric Granof.  The article points out the public sector solutions alone are incapable of improving the ills of the criminal justice system.  Letting people out of jail with no accountability and no skin in the game to show up for court is not a solutions that achieves justice.  Instead the counties should look to new innovative ways to work with the private sector bail industry to not only release defendants more efficiently, but also ensure they show up for court more readily.  Click on the link below to read the article
