Professional sports is something that we all truly love.  Especially this time of year, when you have the NBA playoffs, the Stanley Cup Finals and Baseball all going on simultaneously.  It is a phenomenon that can send any sports fan into hysteria and put him past the line of just being a fan, to a full-fledged fanatic. 

So then, at what point does the traditional sports fan move past just being a fan into the world of fanaticism?  Is it when they purchase their first official team sports jersey?  Or is it when they purchase their 20th official team jersey?  Is it when they attend their 3rd or 4th game of the year?  Or is it when they spend the kids’ college fund  to buy season tickets because this is definitely going to be the year (unlike other years)?  Or is it when you finally explode out of the stands onto the field to celebrate with your teammates after a team milestone….oh yah, and just because you are wearing the jersey, that doesn’t make them your teammates.  Well this is what happened last weekend, when a Mets fan or shall I say fanatic, ran onto the field (in his jorts and official Mets Gary Carter Jersey) after Johan Santana pitched the first no-hitter in Mets history.  

Now that the dust has settled, this New York Mets fanatic is beginning to realize that loving his team needs to have its limits.  Not only is he spending time in a jail cell while his bail bond is set, he also missed his child’s first birthday.

So next time, your team wins that big game, think again before you run out on to the field to celebrate with them, because we can assure you that you will not end up on the trophy podium as a teammate, but rather in a jail cell as an inmate….and trust me when I say, none of your so called teammates will be bailing you out.  Read the original story below.
