While fully understanding every law we have in this country would be a monumental task and outside the capabilities of most average people, there are still a couple laws that are just common sense. For example, threatening a police officer. It is pretty much common sense to not threaten to kill someone in law enforcement. Well unfortunately for a Cleveland, Ohio man, he didn’t seem to think that is was such a bad idea. Call it stupidity or blame in on the large amount of alcohol that the man had consumed, but calling 911 and threatening to kill cops is never a good thing to do.
So the question becomes, how do you punish a crime like this…how do you make sure that someone doesn’t act this idiotic ever again? Do you throw them in jail and set a very large bail bond? Or do you fine them a lot of money? Or just maybe you make them carry a large sign that says, “I am an idiot.” Well, you can probably imagine where we are going with this bail bond blog post. The judge in the case decided to mix and match a portion of all three options. The man was sentenced to 90 days in jail and the worst part of the punishment for him (and the best part for those that think this kind of punishment is amusing) is the man was ordered to stand in public and hold a sign that read:
“I apologize to officer Simone and all police officers for being an idiot calling 911 threatening to kill you. I am sorry and it will never happen again.”
In addition to needing some serious proof reading, do you think that this type of punishment is appropriate? Do you think it works? Read the original article below.
