While some states have legalized the recreational use of Marijuana, it is not yet legal everywhere.  As you can imagine, the legalization of marijuana is a hot topic not only in this bail bond blog, but in the criminal justice system overall.  While the legalization movement has a goal of making the drug legal across the country, there are some aspects of it that will never be legal.  Just ask the woman from Racine, County Wisconsin who recently got busted for doing something with her stash of marijuana that most probably wouldn’t.  She got busted for mailing some joints to a friend.  The problem?  The friend was in the Racine County Jail.

According to the report, Sheriffs were going through the incoming mail, when they received a package that “smelled funny.”  What they found was a book from Barnes and Noble that had three joints and 13 matches tucked into the spine of the book.  The woman was arrested and is facing a maximum of 3½ years in jail.
