How many times have you flipped someone the “bird.”  You know, the middle finger, or as the Romans called it, the “digitus impudicus” (translation: the indecent finger).  If you are like the rest of us, you have probably slipped up and let your emotions get the most of you a couple times and let one or two or a hundred “birds” fly.  Today’s bail bond blog post is about a young man who didn’t show the best judgment when he flipped someone the bird and now he is in jail.

This past week in North Carolina, a young man was driving by the scene of a crime when he looked over at a policeman who was working the crime scene (which by the way was a homicide investigation) and flipped him the old Bronx Salute or as we have referred to it, the bird.  The young man probably thought that the officer wouldn’t react and that he would have a great story to tell his friends later about how he flipped off a deputy on the side of the road.  Well, the young man couldn’t have been more wrong.  The deputy, quickly jumped into action and went after the young man.  The teen was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct for violating the statute that classifies “any utterance, gesture, display or abusive language which is intended to and plainly likely to provoke violent retaliation and thereby cause a breach of the peace.”

What do you think?  Should the young man have been arrested for his actions?  Did the deputy overreact by leaving an active crime scene to pursue and arrest the young man for just giving him the finger?  Let us know what you think?  Read the original story below.
