As many of our readers know, we typically focus the topics of this bail bond industry blog on jail related stories in the United States.  Today’s story however is about a news story out of Korea of all places…South Korea that is.  And the topic of today’s blog falls into our ever popular “Selfie Incrimination” series.

According to a recent article out of Australia, Selfie taking is at an all-time high in South Korea.  More and more people are flipping those phones around and taking selfies of themselves doing all sorts of crazy things.  Selfies have become so popular, that there have been many different product developments including the Selfie Stick.  This is a device that allows the selfie taker to remotely (via Bluetooth) to take a picture as you hold your camera out away from you with a stick.  While consumers love the Selfie Stick, the government is getting a little sick of the stick…and they are trying to stop it with a big fine and jail term…yep, we said jail term.  The article points out that the use of the Bluetooth on the stick technology violates wireless laws and could threaten the integrity of other systems on the same frequency.

So next time you are vacationing in South Korea, feel free to go ahead and take a normal selfie, but should you try and go hi-tech and use a stick, beware, because you might get arrested, fined and do some time.  Read the original article below.
