This blog goes out to all my four-legged, furry canine friends. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the dream is over. Those relaxing car drives through the country, hanging out the window with your tongue waving around like wet flag in a windstorm are soon to be a thing of the past. Yes, it is a sad day for all pets and pet owners, at least if you live in New Jersey. According to a recent news story, the State of New Jersey is concerned about your family’s safety…and when they say family they mean everyone…even your dog. While you might not be able to claim Fido as a dependent on your taxes, you do have to make sure he is wearing his seatbelt when he is in your car. Yep, we said seatbelt….and yep, we thought the same thing you are right now….they apparently do make seatbelts for dogs. It actually might be a good time to dump that Facebook stock and invest in a dog seatbelt company…it might be the next big thing…or maybe not.
Anyway, what makes this news shocking isn’t the seatbelt; it is the penalty for not following the rule…up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Can you see it now, some big scary guy with a tattoo on his face asks you, what are you in for…and you reply, “For not putting a seatbelt on my dog.” Now I always believe in telling the truth, but in this particular instance you might want to lie.
The word on the street is that next they will be cracking down on illegal catnip dispensaries and will be limiting the legal limit of dog biscuits to 2.7 Milkbones…the small ones not the jumbo ones. Read the original article below.
