Talk about making students think about their actions! A high school student was recently suspended for buying an extra chicken nugget in the lunch line. The audacity! Lucky for him, the suspension was recently overturned when cooler heads prevailed.

Carson Koller, a senior, Eagle Scout and captain of the band’s drum line (sounds like a real bad seed) was suspended for theft of property after he took six chicken nuggets from the lunch line instead of the usual five. And of course, his mom was outraged.

But first, let it be known that he paid for the extra nugget when the cashier rang him up. That’s right… he paid the additional charge before being asked to sit in another area and speak to the principal. What?!

“How is it theft if he paid for it? It’s food. FOOD!!! Not weapons. Not drugs. Not alcohol. Not cheating on a test… I am shaking my head over this and not sure what to do. Laugh, punish, argue, dress him up as the nugget bandet, or let the whole thing go.” Koller’s mother, Carrie Koller Waller, stated.

Luckily, after sending letters to several school administrators, the one-day suspension was rescinded.

School officially initially said the nugget had been stolen, but luckily, proof showed otherwise. With the help of receipts, it showed that Koller had actually been charged three times for his lunch. One extra lunch charge of $2.75, one lunch entree charge of $2.50 and another charge of $2.75. Maybe he should have been able to have a few extra nuggets at that price!
