A woman faces seven felony charges after court documents show she put fecal matter, more than once, into her son’s IV lines while he was undergoing cancer treatments. Where do they find people like this?

Tiffany Alberts, 41, faces seven felony charges, six counts of aggravated battery and one count of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury. This woman deserves to go away for a LONG time.

The mom intentionally inflicted injury multiple times on her 15-year-old son, which put him in worse condition than before. He was already being treated for cancer at the hospital where the crime was committed.

Medical staff noticed that the boy was getting several infections, delaying his treatment, but all were unexplained in nature. Finally, the hospital put video surveillance in his room and were appalled by what they saw.

Staff saw Alberts inject an unknown substance into her son’s IV bag multiple times. After taking blood cultures, doctors confirmed that the son had positive blood cultures with organisms that are normally found in stool. Experts say there is no medical reason to explain the ongoing blood infection, until they figured out what was going on.

When Alberts was questioned, she claimed she only used water to “flush the line” because the “medicine that was given to him burned.” She finally confessed, though, and told authorities that she did inject her son’s IV with fecal matter. She claimed she only was trying to get her son moved to another until at the hospital, which she believed had better treatment.

Authorities found diarrheal medication and weight loss pills in Alberts’ personal items. Not surprisingly, her son’s health began to improve once his mom stopped poisoning him with her feces.

Alberts was arrested, but the medical staff is more concerned that they may have missed the best window to keep the boy’s leukemia in remission. Furthermore, they say he could have died from any of the episodes of septic shock, which would have been caused by the fecal matter in his blood. He may still die from his leukemia, now that his treatment has been compromised.

Alberts is currently out on bond, but has been issued a no contact order. What a despicable act of parenting.
