Recently, a man in Texas received a traffic fine he clearly didn’t agree with. What was his retribution? Paying his fine with thousands of pennies! Brilliant!

Brett Sanders recently was given a speeding ticket for going 9 mph over the speed limit, though he doesn’t agree. “I didn’t hurt anybody, I didn’t endanger anybody’s life,” he said. Ummm… it’s still breaking the law though, right?

He was so adamant about not getting this ticket that he took it to court, which eventually went to trial but he lost. At the end of the day, he was forced to pay a $220 ticket.

“When my fine came due, I just decided I may as well pay with pennies and we’ll make a big spectacle of it,” he said. He accomplished his goal! He shoved $220 worth of pennies out of their rolls and into five-gallon buckets!

He than took the pennies to the Municipal Court building, where he dumped all 22,000 pennies on the counter. That poor administrative clerk!

In order to make sure he’d never forget it, he even made sure he had someone with him to record the incident. He posted the video on YouTube, as well, and it’s already been viewed about 40,000 times!

Clerks later said it took them about three hours to count them all and they had to take them to various Coinstar locations around town. And… he overpaid by $7.81!

We’re waiting to see if the city pays him back his extra money in pennies, as well.
