A state representative had his own election drama recently when he was arrested the same day that he was reelected to his seat!

Dick Marple was sitting outside the local polling location on election day with his own campaign signs, welcoming voters who were coming in to vote. Unfortunately for him, a police officer who came to vote recognized him.

Turns out the officer knew that Marple had an outstanding bench warrant for his arrest over a month ago for not showing up for a mandatory court date. The date stemmed from an original charge for driving without a valid license, a misdemeanor offense that has followed him around for almost two years.

Luckily, there was no election scuffle that ensued. Marple drove himself to the police station and turned himself in, where he was soon placed under arrest.

Things got better later in the day for Marple, though, when he was reelected to a fifth term in the state’s House of Representatives. Talk about a busy day!
