Of course we are referring to the innocuous Facebook “poke” when we say that you can’t and shouldn’t just poke anyone on Facebook…and that goes for “friending” as well (but of course “liking” and becoming a “fan” of a page like ExpertBail is still good).   As we have said many times, people need to learn how to show a little restraint when it comes to social media.  In the past few months, we have seen several people get themselves into trouble for saying and doing things on social media sites.  From admitting to a crime to disparaging ex-girlfriends to posting peoples addresses online, the stupid things people do never cease to amaze us.  But then there comes along another story and we are amazed once again.

This past week in Oconee County, Georgia, to prison guards are out of work.  Did they sneak in some contraband? Nope.  Did they help an inmate escape? Nope.  Did they show up for work drunk?  Nope.  The crime they committed was being stupid.  They “poked” an inmate on Facebook.  Yep, we said poked.  And they tried to “Friend” her as well.  All the while the woman was still in prison with no access to her Facebook account.  Apparently, they also sent her a text message “of an inappropriate nature” to her cell phone.  Both guards will be spending more time on Facebook as one was relieved of duty, while the other one resigned.  Read the original article below.
