Some of the best parts of visiting New York are walking through Central Park, going to a Broadway show, and of course picking up a Rolex watch for $20 on a street corner. Now let’s be honest.  We all know that the watch really isn’t a Rolex…especially when it is spelled “Rolecks”.  And we know that the Prada bag really isn’t genuine, especially when it is spelled “Prata” with a “t”.  Anyway, it is still cool to have a knockoff.  Well at least it was cool.

According to the New York Post, Mayor Bloomberg is looking to oppose a bill that would make the buying of these knock-off luxury products illegal.  If you get caught buying one, you could face a $1,000 fine and some jail time.  With a fine like that you might not even have any dough left to get a bail bond.  We aren’t sure which way things will go with the controversial legislation, but we do know that shoppers better hurry up and get their knockoffs because Christmas is only 6 months away and buying a real Rolex for you loved one might not be in the budget.
