Most of us think of the Amish as a peaceful hard working people riding their horse drawn buggies down idyllic county roads. The last thing we think of are gangs of beard cutting zealots terrorizing the neighborhood. Well I hate to break it to you but the latter example is the one making the headlines again.
Sam Mullet, yep I am not making this up, his last name is Mullet, was denied a bail bond for a second time. Both a federal judge in Cleveland and an appellate court in Cincinnati ruled that Mr. Mullet will remain in jail without bail. Mullet (damn I love saying that) is charged in a series of beard-chopping attacks last year. As you may or may not know, beards are kind of a sacred thing amongst Amish men, and cutting someone’s beard off is the ultimate insult and sign of disgrace.
I think that this story might go down in history as the ultimate ironic crime…a guy named “Mullet” stuck in jail without a chance for a bail bond, for cutting off beards, or as I like to refer to them as, face mullets. Read the story below.
