Everyone knows that the first rule of cockfighting club is to not talk about cockfighting club.  The second rule?  Well you know that one too…it is the same as the first rule.  However recently in New York, someone did talk about cockfighting club and that is the topic of today’s bail bond blog.

This weekend in an operation identified as “Operation Angry Birds,” New York police made the largest bust of an organized cock fighting ring on record…and yes, the amount of jokes we could say at this point are pretty much endless.  According to the article, the police raided two boroughs and rounded up over 3000 cocks (yes, more jokes to make, but need to keep things as appropriate as possible).  In addition to the many cocks that were rounded up, the police also rounded up 70 people who were either involved as cock trainers (still more jokes) or as merely spectators….either way, they were all taken into custody.  The most serious cock offenders in this story, 9 in total, were arrested on felony charges.

Cockfighting is a crime in all 50 states and carries a pretty “stiff” penalty (no pun intended…actually, okay, the pun was intended, but can you really blame us).  In New York, you are looking at a max sentence of 4 years in jail and a fine of $25,000.  So next time you are in the big apple and someone starts talking about having a few cold ones and going to see a cockfight, remember to just say “no thanks” and go about your business.  Read the original story below.
