We guess the old saying is true… you just can’t teach an old dog new tricks. That stands true for 86-year-old notorious jewel thief. It doesn’t matter how many times she’s been arrested; she just can’t stop.

Doris Payne, a multi-convicted jewel thief, has now been charged with shoplifting. Again. 

This time she was charged with a misdemeanor shoplifting charge when Walmart employees said she tried to leave the store with items she didn’t pay for. Must be that memory and old age, right? In her case, probably not.

Payne was still on probation after pleading guilty in March to a felony shoplifting charge for trying to steal a $2,000 necklace back in December. She was even thrown in jail! But that didn’t mean she was ready to turn over a new leaf, obviously!

Payne is known quite well all over the world for her jewelry heists that have spanned over six decades. She has used 32 aliases, 10 different birth dates, 11 Social Security numbers and 9 names on passports. She even is described as being quite ‘proud’ and ‘uninhibited and boastful about her criminal career.’

I guess when you’re 86-years-old and have committed that many crimes, it’s probably a hard habit to break!
