This is now the 5th story we have posted this year on someone faking cancer. As horrible and unbelievalbe all of these stories have been, this one tops the list.
A 33 year old Austin, Texas man duped his community into thinking he had a rare form of breast cancer. The community pulled together and held a “Battle for Brian” benefit on March 19, 2011. During the benefit they raised $1600 for the man. Additionally, the community provided him with thousands of dollars worth of repairs to his truck. The only thing wrong was that, the man didn’t have cancer. In fact he was a convicted felon who was on probation for a previous burglary.
While all of this is horrible, it still gets worse. Thirteen people in the Killeen, Texas community, as a sign of solidarity and hope, got tattoos of the man’s name. Ouch!!! Talk about a permanent scar.
The man received the maximum sentence for the theft of the $1,600 and will be ordered to repay the money and a $1,000 fine. All in all, he will be out of jail in 2 years. Read the original story below.
