If you watched the cartoon Popeye growing up than you are probably familiar with the character Wimpy and his love of hamburgers. While Wimpy loved burgers, he never had any money, so he was always saying to people, “I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.”
Well a recently released inmate in New Mexico must have been thinking about Wimpy because when he was released from jail earlier this week, instead of going straight to an office to get his required electronic monitoring device, he made a quick stop at Blake’s Lotaburger. Unfortunately for the man, he paid for his $18 worth of burgers (now that’s a lot of burgers) with stolen money. Another person was being booked into the jail as the man in question was being released. In the process, the man stole $80. Now Wimpy liked burgers, but he never stole to pay for them. He might have been a total freeloader and owed people money, but he never broke the law.
The man was re-arrested and booked back into jail. Not sure if a bail bond was set. Read the original story below.
