All humans have a natural fight or flight instinct.  It is part of our genetic make-up and what has contributed significantly to our survival and evolution as a species.  But sometimes in the middle of a hectic situation, that fight or flight instinct (and we are referring to the flight one in this instance) can backfire.

Earlier this week in St. Louis County, Missouri a man didn’t want to deal with the police and decided he would be better off giving into his instinct for flight and run away.  The problem with this approach that first, it is never a good idea to run from the police, and second, it is always good to know where you are actually running to.  Seems pretty straight forward right?  Well, unfortunately for this running man, he wasn’t paying too much attention to wear he was running and he ran right into the St. Louis County Police Headquarters.  Talk about the wrong place at the wrong time.  As he ran down the hallway, a Police Lieutenant looked up and saw him.  Thinking it was kind of strange to see a man run down the hallway, the Lieutenant got up and went after him.  He was eventually caught the man and arrested him.  We aren’t sure if the man was released on a commercial bail bond or on his own recognizance through a pretrial services agency, but we do know that next time he might think to run with his head up so he can see where he is going.
