A few weeks ago we posted a story about a young man who was caught stealing from his family.  As a punishment, he was told by his father to stand outside with a sign that says, “I am a thief.  I stole from my family….”  Most of your agreed that this “humiliation” type of punishment was appropriate, and it would probably do a good job of ensuring that the young man never stole again.  Well, wait until you hear about this next story…and to think, it is just in time for Mother’s Day.

A mother in Minnesota took humiliation to a new level this week when she made her 12 year daughter do something that none of us could have even come up with if we tried.  As a punishment for poor schoolwork, the mother shaved the daughter’s head and sent her outside wearing a diaper and a tank top to pick up garbage and do wind sprints (not really sure how the wind sprints fit in here, but I am just reporting the story).   The girl begged and cried to be let back in to her home.  All in all, the girl was outside for about a half an hour.  According to other kids nearby, this wasn’t the first time the girl had been humiliated as a punishment.

The police arrived and the couple was arrested and booked for gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child.  We aren’t sure if a bail bond was set.  What we are sure of is that this mom probably won’t be getting flowers for Mother’s Day this year….and to be honest, we are okay with that.  Oh yah, one more thing…the mom and her boyfriend laughed in the police care all the way to the jail.  Read the original story below.
