Instagram for Felons: Pssst…Everyone Can See That

grabbedSocial media is cool…don’t you think?  All you have to do is snap a photo, post it online through Facebook or Instagram, and boom…you are an instant superstar…or maybe not.  Today’s bail bond blog post is about a guy that may not have realized that his cool Instagram photos were not just gathering him a bunch of “likes” but also helping law enforcement gather a big ole file on his illegal activities.

This past week a 19 year old Florida man was busted for 142 Felony Counts.  You are probably thinking to yourself, damn, he must have been a pretty crafty criminal to get away with so many crimes for so long.  Well we aren’t sure what kind of criminal he is, but we do know that he is a pretty darn good photographer.  Over the past several months he has posted some great photos of himself on Instagram.  The lighting and sepia filter he used on the one with him and his guns was awesome.  Then there is the one of him smoking out where the backlighting is creating a really cool effect on his face.  Lastly is the one of him kicking it with one of his pals holding up some cold hard cash.  There is a really cool smoke effect going on in the photo (we aren’t sure if this is a new Instagram smoke filter or someone actually smoking…but it is cool none the less).  The best part of this last photo is the way they subtly show the address of the house they are in front of...it is so well done that you almost can’t tell if they did it on purpose or by accident.

The young man’s photos became a real hit all over…especially with local law enforcement.  He was ultimately arrested and when asked what his career is, he simply answered “Thief.”  Apparently the Instagram account has been taken down since his arrest.  If there is one lesson to learn here is that if you are going to choose the career of “thief” it is probably best not to have an Instagram account.  Read the original story below.
