An Oregon woman’s boyfriend was in dire need for some meth. The only problem was he was in jail. Fortunately (and, in the end, unfortunately), his dutiful girlfriend came to his aide.
Melissa Ann Blair and Anthony Powell were dating when she came to visit him in prison last year. At the end of a long goodbye kiss, she passed seven tiny balloons filled with meth into his mouth. Two of the balloons ruptured in Powell’s stomach, however, and he died of toxicity a short time later. A literal kiss of death.
While Powell may have devised the scheme in order to get drugs into the prison, Blair’s actions were a part of it.
Powell, 41, was serving a life sentence for aggravated murder in the stabbing death of his mother-in-law.
In addition to the two years in prison, Blair, 46, will also have to complete three years of post-release supervision and participate in drug treatment and mental health programs.
While in court, it came out that she felt coerced by Powell, even with him behind bars. While she claimed she wasn’t addicted to meth, she did admitting to using it.
Her attorney even discussed how Powell had total control over her life and she would always do whatever he said. Because of her actions, she was sentenced to two years in prison.
