batter upHow far would you go to protect your children?  Would you cause a scene in a public place if it meant protecting your child?  Would you take a bullet for them?  Would you go to jail for them?  Most of us who are parents, no matter what the situation, would go above and beyond to protect our children.

Well, one mother in Jefferson County, Missouri stepped up to the plate big time and took a big swing of the bat to protect her son from getting any further involved with a local drug dealer.   The only problem is that she didn’t take a swing at crime metaphorically; she took a swing at crime literally with a baseball bat and hit a 22 year old drug dealer that was ruining her son’s life.  This mother had seen her son, who was a straight-A student and who loved sports turn into a listless waste of space with a growing attitude.  She finally figured out the cause of his sudden change:  Heroin.

According to the article, she took desperate measures to get her son clean, which meant getting him help and changing his environment.  Most of all it meant keeping him away from the person supplying the heroin.  That is when she took matters into her own hands and decided that in order to clean her son up, she needed to bat clean-up and knock the drug dealer out of the park.  Well that is what she did and unfortunately for her that is why she is now facing a charge of third degree assault.  We aren’t sure if she was released on a bail bond prior to trial, but she is awaiting sentencing in June.  While hitting the drug dealer with a bat might not have been the most legal way to deal with the problem, she still gets our MVP award and is definitely a #1 Mom.  Read the original story below.
