How it Works
Once the judge has set a bond amount, the release from custody can take place if the bail bond is posted in cash or in assets. If the suspect or family does not have money or assets to put up for the bail bond, they can enlist the help of the bail bondsman. That's where female and family owned Heflins Stepping Out Bail Bonds comes in! We will only require a percentage of the bond depending on local and state guidelines, and we supply the balance of the money so that the bond can be posted and your loved one can be released.
Trials can take months to wind their way through the Stafford area court system. When you post bail through Heflins Stepping Out Bail Bonds, trial can be awaited at home, while pursuing normal activities and spending time with loved ones.

Frequently Asked Bail Bond Questions
What is a bail bond?
A bail bond is essentially an insurance policy that gaurantees the appearance of the defendant in court.
How much does a bail bond cost?
The bail bond industry is regulated at the local level. So pricing and process differs based on the state and sometimes even the county. In general, a bail bond will cost typically 10-15% of the total bail amount. This is paid to the bail bond agent as a non-refundable premium payment...much like any other form of insurance.
What happens if the defendant fails to appear for trial?
Through the bail contract, the bail agent and the indemnitor (friends or family that have vouched for the defendant) are responsible for the appearance of the defendant in court. If the defendant doesn't appear, than the bail agent will pay the court the full amount of the bond.
